The book is titled "Hex" by Arthur H. Lewis copyrighted in 1969. It covers the murder trial of a young PA dutch powwower (faith healer), John Blymire, who murdered another powwower named Nelson Rehmeyer in order to break a hex. The trial was in 1929. I found a web sight tonight known as bestwitches.com which gives some details. I don't know of any paranormal activity in the hollow today, but they do run haunted hayrides for the kids each year.
