Subject: Reflection for Stage 2

Reflections after Stage 2 of the HCI Class Project:

This time, again, we worked well as a team for both - the poster session and the final submission of this stage. The poster session helped a lot. We were forced to come up with design ideas and during the brainstorming sessions, many points emerged about how the interface should be designed. We also began to look closely at why or why not to design the interface in certain ways and at the same time keeping our interviewees� listed desirable features in mind. Some questions that arose from the instructor�s querying during the poster session, which we had not thought about for example what the default mode should be, seem to be very necessary to think about. I realize at this point that the competitive evaluation from stage 1 will be helpful in deciding the design issues; we had not done a very thorough evaluation at that time, but feel compelled to do so now. I intend to make amends on that issue, before we actually finalize our design, just to make sure we are not missing any points that need attention and also check what is it that we can do better. We plan to submit a fresh competitive evaluation section in plan 3. At this point we have about 3 alternative design proposals and have weighed the pros and cons of particular features and designs. The end result should be a combination of these. We haven�t discussed issues about the specs like memory ( since it was mentioned that this is not an issue) and the battery life as yet. All in all, the exercise has been necessary and fruitful.
