Subject: Exercise Report

Alright, here's my first report as an exercise rider :) I got aquainted with the following horses and took them out for exercise :

VOLCANIC ERUPTION
Volcanic is indeed a very lively stallion, and I spent about 10-15 minutes lunging him to steady him. I spent half-an hour doing flatwork with him (mostly trotting and canter). He does very lovely flying changes, but needs work on his transitions. Perhaps you should talk to his trainer about this. Finished with a 5 minute cool-down.

INFERNO
Warm-up for 10 minutes. Asked for a trot and was blown away! LOL. He has beautiful paces, and I enjoyed the 30 minutes of flatwork with him. Towards the end of the session, I tried out a few piaffe's and half-passes. In my opinion, he needs to be slightly more relaxed. I will try to increase his warm-up next time. Finished with a 5 minutes cool-down.

*SHE'S ALL THAT
When I went to get Sassy from her stall, she nickered as if she's known me all her life. Under saddle, she's very attentive to my cues and moves brilliantly. As with the other horses, I did some flatwork. We mainly trotted but I asked for a good deal of cantering. This mare needs to up her stamina a bit more. I will work on that during the next few sessions. Finished with a 10 minute cool-down (longer than others because I wanted to enjoy her a bit more;))

RENAISSANCE GLORY
Not a lot has been said about Glory, but I find her sweet and obliging. I found her a bit tense at first, but she loosened up 15 minutes into the session. She seemed very calm and steady, so I tried her over some groundpoles. Picks her feet up nicely although she tends to drop her head too low. Finished with 5-10 minute cool-down.

PAINTED SATURDAY
Gigi was very well-behaved considering what she's been through. You're right, she is *very* shy around strangers - she wouldn't come to me willingly, so I had her groom take her into a round pen for me. I spent about 10-15 minutes trying to persuade her that I meant no harm before I finally managed to lunge Gigi without her running out on me. I couldn't judge her paces properly as she was still a bit stressed, but she looks promising. I took her for a walk around the stables for 10-15 minutes as cool-down to get her to trust me.

If you've noticed, I'm doing flatwork with most of the horses. This will continue until the horses and I get accustomed to each other.
