Sarah,

Here are my tips:

a)don’t criticize spirituality or meditation; focus your critics on Chinmoy Kumar Ghose;
b)tell her about some contradictions. Here are the ones I experienced myself: a) ceaseless search for fame; b) control exerted by followers among themselves, stimulated and encouraged by the leader; c) prohibition of any critics (and even expel from the sect because of them), instead of giving satisfactory answers; d) overreacted devotion of the members towards the leader (who can only be, at most, one of “God’s instruments”, not God himself), without him doing anything about it or making any critics (on the contrary, he seems to stimulate it); e) frequent luxurious trips to exotic countries; f) money charging on every small event, which are actually created with this very purpose, not respecting the voluntary donations; g) frenetic search for new followers, according to quantitative criteria, challenging the affirmative according to which the relationship master-student was agreed to prior to birth; h) the sole fact of there are so many ex-followers contradicts the affirmative that the path was “pre-destined”; i) weigh lifting through a mechanical arm (“give me a lever and I’ll move the world” is a lesson learned in physics);
c)tell her about the discussion group at Yahoo; there were more than 90 members, almost 2500 messages with detailed stories about several contradictions (sexual abuse, lies, intrigues, partiality, etc.) that were all confirmed by other ex-followers who were closer to the leader;
d)tell her that she can lead a spiritual life and meditate outside the group or in a more authentic and sincere path. She’ll certainly be happier;
e)we should always help people. Don’t be afraid to warn your friend and let her know what you think. “The truth hurts, lies much more”. Whatever the outcome may be, you can be in peace with your consciousness. You’ll have done what you should have done.

I hope she sees the truth.
