Subject: dark goblins......

A Dark Goblin is a goblin sworn to evil and committing dark deeds, directed mostly towards humanity, although some wickedness is diverted towards goblins. They live mostly in their own settlements but a few live as spies in goblin communities and many more live in human cities, hidden away, watching the world.

Yet the Dark Goblins do not commit wickedness for its own sake. The Dark Goblins are the most disaffected, most disillusioned of the goblins. They have watched as humanity has grown powerful and greedy, ripping at the earth, destroying forests,killing the beauy of the world. Goblins have always been deeply concerned with the health of the environment not the least because they're so closely connected to it. Unlike humans, goblins have never tried to distance themselves from nature. Rather we have embraced it and worked within its boundries. Goblins believe theworld is a garden and should be treated as such. This belief is enshrined in all aspects of goblin life, from religion to government.

But mankind sees things very differently. Formuch of humanity (but thankfully not all) the world is a huge resource to be plundered for profit. The destruction that results from this attitude has seen the continuing destruction of forests and species and entire eco-systems. The earth is poisoned, bio-diversity is lost, the world becomes poorer with every loss. The world is no longer a garden.

And for that the Dark Goblins (and many ordinary goblins) cannot forgive humanity. For centuries the Dark Goblins have watched humanity's rise. In the long distant past they have tried to battle face to face with humanity, but have found they cannot match humanity's ferocity and strength. So now they use subtefuge and guile in their attempts to undermine the fabric of human society. The war continues but at a much more subtle level.
