Subject: Nails sticking out in attic!

I just had a new roof put on. When I went up into the attic to check the louvre vents that were put in, there were nails sticking straight out all over the wooden exterior of the attic where apparently they nailed the roof to the outside.

Is this acceptable? Since I'll be spending time up there it doesn't seem safe to have nails sticking out all over the place.

This usually happens unless you specify for the nails to be pulled rather then pounded in. I suppose you are right that it could be dangerous and I would recommend that you put a ceiling in there if you spend much time in there. Pounding the nails rather then pulling them saves hours in labor and pounding them are standard practice except for over hangs. We pull all nails in the over hangs. I would think that the old nails don't protrude any more then an inch through the roof deck though.
