On the bridge of the D'deridex War Bird "Black Panther" Rear Admiral Lot'an examined the four dagger shaped vessels that plodded through space before them. He desided that anyone who needed to build ships that big was probly pretty primitive. There was no way that they could possible carry enough armament of enough power to cause him any trouble. He desided that they should be dealt with, If he was lucky they might provide him with the location of their home planet, which he could then conquer for the Empress.
"Attention unidentified ships. You have illegally entered the Neutral zone. This constitutes an act of war. You will lower your shields and surrender your ships. If you fail to comply, we will destroy you." Admiral Lot'an spoke into the comm. "You have one minute to comply."
On the bridge of the Imperial Star Destroyer "Divine Retribution" the Imperial Fleet Admiral Divineon was wondering who could have the audacity to demand that an Imperial fleet surrender. He leans towards the left crew pit from his Admiral's chair. "Has the comm-scan managed to pinpoint the location that transmision was sent from?"
"We have the general location sir, but not an exact position." the young ensign repleyed.
"Order the fleet to fire a wall of TL and ion cannon bolts into that region, when we detect any area of the bolts disapearing, the fleet is fire all of their cannons into that region." Divineon said.
"aye sir."
Admiral Lot'an was more than a little surprised when the enemy fleet opened fire into the region of space that his ship occupied. And more surprised that there were so many guns on all of ships. The larger dagger ships had 120 guns total! "all guns, all ships open fire. I repeat, FIRE!" the Admiral shouted into his ships intercom. I just hope that the numbers of those guns makes up for some lack of power, he thought hopefully.
But it is said that you can hope in one hand and crap in the other, and see which one gets filled first. That was certainly true in this case. None of the torpedoes he fired got through the wall of energy that Imperial fleet had fired, the disrupters had been stopped by the shields, and the wall energy that had been advancing on his position tore the shields from his ship, droped the cloak, and dissabled most of his weapons and lifesupport. Knowing that he would die, he desided that it would best to die in a way that further the Romulan Star Empire.
"Commander, ram that large dagger ship."
"Aye sir."
The burning Romulan flaggship flew at its best sublight speed right into the bow of the ISD "Divine Retribution" destroying half of its guns. The ISD had been to busy trying to hit the other war birds to bother with one that couldn't shoot at it.
The other three war birds were circling the Imperials, manuvering, firing, recloaking, and moving again.
One of the Romulans made the mistake of sending a congratulations message to one of the other ships, and was givin a comm-scan guided salvo of turbolaser, ion cannon, and concussion missile fire for his trouble. The Victory Star Destroyer "Plauge" was afire and could no longer help in the fight.
"Attention fleet, deploy your fighters and bombers. The bombers are to be fully loaded with space mines and the fighters are to hunt for cloaked vessels."
The three destroyers that remained in the fight did as told. They dropped their docking bay shields, deployed thier fighters, and raised shields all in under 6 seconds.
One of the war birds fired proxy photons into a cloud of TIEs, destroying them all, but opening itself up to a salvo of concusion missiles from the remaining VSD, hulling the ship and damaging the piont singularity reactor beyond repair. It rammed the Imperial flagship and tore the bridge tower from the ship's main body.
while the Victory was concentrating on the war bird that had been destroying fighters, the remaining war bird fired it's torpedoes into the launchers of the Victory, detonating it's magazine, and splitting the destroyer into 5 spinning burning peices.
The war bird managed to avoid the answering salvo from the sole surviving ISD only to blunder into the mine field being laid by the TIE bombers. while it still had its cloak on, just nudging the mines set them off, the war bird broke in two.
In the end, we have one surving ISD, a victory at great cost
