We live in an area with so much diversity, and it's wonderful to see the diversity in winners in other pageant systems in our state. It is time for Maryland to crown winners to send to Nationals that better reflect our population.

I agree but not to pick just on that it should be the overall best young women.

Lately, taller and thinner ladies seem to be the type that judges are picking to send to Nationals.

I agree with this statement, but unfortunately this organization has a "type" and that type does not include diversity. My daughter competed in this system and it was evident that while they may "like" others, if you don't fit that "type" you will be overlooked. But I will say that Destiny was a pleasant surprise when she won. No one saw that one coming.

I agree with u but no one should win because they r black white asian or a certain hair type or height whoever did best overall should win hands down.

You are absolutely correct on that but sadly, more times than not, that is not what happens or who wins. It's the person they think will "look good" on paper, and not who did the person or caught everyone's attention during competition. Maybe it will change in the future. I sure hope so.

The four points of the Miss America crown represent service, scholarship, style and success. It is not about how many contestants are from what part of the state or what hairstyle they have or what there talent is.

Emma Lutton is hispanic FYI, so for the race complainers, just FYI
