We live in an area with so much diversity, and it's wonderful to see the diversity in winners in other pageant systems in our state. It is time for Maryland to crown winners to send to Nationals that better reflect our population.

I agree with this statement, but unfortunately this organization has a "type" and that type does not include diversity. My daughter competed in this system and it was evident that while they may "like" others, if you don't fit that "type" you will be overlooked. But I will say that Destiny was a pleasant surprise when she won. No one saw that one coming.

It's the person they think will "look good" on paper, and not who did the person or caught everyone's attention during competition. Maybe it will change in the future. I sure hope so.
