Subject: am.i.standing.still.

Given the past few days, the mage gratefully keeps to himself, going about his own things. He now sits upon the hearth within the connecting room of the guest wing, fingering the pages of a book he found in his trunk. Rubbing his chin, he reads the writings, in his mother's seemingly perfect quilling. This was her personal treasure, one of the few he things he had of hers.

He knew little of his mother, and the book of her poems, and a gemmed necklace, were all he managed to steal away with from her trunk of things in the dusty loft of his father's home after her death.

Running a hand over his face, he thinks of what it would have been like, had she not died. Things would be far different, he knew, but that just didnt seem enough.

Closing the old book gingerly, he gets to his feet, and returns to his room, and returns the book to the trunk at the foot of his bed. Returning to the adjoining room, he seats himself on the hearth again, leaning his head on his fist. Thinking, yet again.
