Date Posted: 11:09:33 06/29/03 Sun Hi, I am single, 55 years old, and, retired due to disability of fibromyalgia and degenerative disk disease. I am looking for a way to meet other people in a similar situation. I would like to start a support group to decrease our social isolation. I find that there is a lack of daytime social outlets for us. Most everything is geared to the working person who can only attend evening meetings. The senior centers offer classes on a variety of subjects, but, they are full of people much older than I am. The churches rarely have daytime activities. The colleges and universities offer courses, but, the campuses are too large for me to navigate with my medical condition. And, volunteer work seems to require more stamina than I have. Ideally, young disabled retirees would have their niche in the senior centers. Any ideas on how I can find these folks? [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
