Subject: Childhood at the Museuem

I remember taking classes during the summer at the museum including field trips to the ocean and days spent enjoying the museum. My mother felt so strongly about these wonderful classes that she would drive from Whittier to the museum after working in LA all night and sleep in the car while I attended class. There are so many great memories from the space exhibits to the chickens hatching to the probability exhibits with all their buttons to push and things to do. It was a hands on museum before there were any others. Ironically, I did not become the scientist that many thought I would become. I became a teacher because I love learning and inspiring the love of learning in others. My transitional kindergarten class has a science center where the children can explore ideas hands on and I believe that all these great things will be passed on to a new generation in large part because of the Museum of Science and Industry.
