Hi! This is WIld Horse. I am riding the Black and as I chase after the brave mare I can see the fire in her eyes, her beautiful strides almost as long as the Black's. She puts up a good run, and just when the Black is almost out of steam I see she's losing hers as well. I take a lasso off my saddle horn and circle it in the air. The mare had never seen one so she shied and was off again in another direction, this time heading for a cliff. I didn't know this at the time being my first chase but she did. She took me quite close to the edge, and as I slowed Black she took advantage and ran another way. We were off again! I could see the excitement of running and being tickled in the face by a strong breeze. Her mane and tail flapping behind her as she swerved again, this time into a deep valley. Then I knew I had her, because there where steep edges on this valley and I had just been led over the smallest. There was one other small hill, but it was terribly muddy after the evenings storm. The mare had intelligience and knew she would probably not make it out but she knew it was her only way. She ran me around in circle and took off for an exit, her plan ready. She had already slowed her pace and was picking her way thorugh the mud. She reached the deep part and was now at a slow walk. I didn't dare lead Black into it because I knew what was happening. The mud was very deep and she soon became stuck in it, sort of like being in a small, but about as thick, bog. I waited until she was in so deep she could not pick up her legs easily, I took this moment to throw my lasso around her. There, I had her! I dismounted Black and led him away from the bog. He was going to help her get out, because I had wrapped the lasso around his saddle horn and he was steadily pulling her out. Every step he made led the mare out of the bog and then she was out! She tried to run for it, but Black had planted his feet, mimicking the way a Quarter Horse would when roping a calf. i mounted back on Black and led my new mustang back to my property.
