Subject: Dear Youngstown Feis folks: Bravo on a wonderful feis. Comments inside.

This was our 1st Youngstown Feis. Honestly, we'd previously avoided it because of all the negative we'd heard about the old venue, so when you found a new spot, we were eager to try it out. We're glad we did! Our experience is based on the champ stage from about 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 or 12:00.
Number one is everyone was so friendly & helpful! This started way before the feis itself, with clear communications & timely updates. Keep up the good work there!
Things ran smoothly. When my dd (first comps of the day) was finished dancing, she was told as she left the stage when her results would be announced - that's handy! We liked having PC & OC comps mixed in - interesting to watch it mixed up. Very nice awards given to dancers. (Note, although dd placed, we'd have really enjoyed your feis if she hadn't.)
The venue was clean, & the layout was good - fairly easy for us to navigate, restrooms close. You had commented earlier that if all went well, you would up the cap for next year. I emphatically say "PLEASE DON'T!" It wasn't overly crowded, but it was tight. We took one of the last set-up spots stage-side at 8:30. Folks coming in at 8:45 struggled to find a place. Walking from the champ stage to the "gymnasium A" entrance & back again was not a quick trip by 10:00. With a higher cap, it would have been jammed to a point of discomfort. If we kept wiggling & jiggling, we could see the stage most of the time. With more folks surrounding the champ stage, we'd not have seen most of the dancing. (I can't speak for the rest of the areas of the gyms.)
The gray runners were helpful - they muffled sound & lessened a slippery situation. I'm sure they were floor protection as well. However, they need to be somehow adhered to the floor next time. Not too long into the morning, they were bunching up into "ripples" that I saw more than one person trip on in the attempt to get through the crowd to where they were going.
At the champ stage, the music was easy to hear. I'm not sure if it would have been the same to be at a solo stage between 2 other solo stages, maybe someone else can speak to that....
Dd's results were delivered when promised, & were fairly clear to read. It is the first feis we've done at champ level with absolutely no judges' comments. I don't know if that's a function of all 3 judges not having written any, or of the feis not handing them out with the results.
We didn't investigate any vendors, & we didn't experience how things went during or after lunch, so I realize our scope is somewhat narrow, but we want you to know that what we WERE there for was enjoyable & for the most part well-done, & WE THANK YOU!
