Trueflight Strongbow was born in an otter holt off of the coast of Salamandastron. His family actually wanted a girl, so they drove him with hard work, He worked all day with little food, and didn't get to have fun like the others.One day, while a band of corsairs were attacking Salamandastron, the corsairs found the holt. Trueflight escaped with a few posessions, but his 'family' was killed by the corsairs. While running, a slip of old parchment paper fell out of a book he had in his havvysack. It was an adoption form. Trueflight ran to Salamandastron, where the badger lord Thunderpaw. He was even trained in the arts of war, even though he was young. He recieved a short yew bow, with 200 shafts. One day, Trueflight left Salamandastron, and ran off into Mossflower Woods. Trueflight met up with a group of hares. They agreed to take him to Redwall. The next day, Trueflight heard them say "I wonder how much that one will bring. He's young and strong, wot". Trueflight escaped from the hares later on in the night. He ran at a headlong pace, hoping he was heading for Redwall. He did in fact arrive at Redwall in the autumn. He was considered an 'outcast', because he carried a bow and arrows. One day, vermin attacked Redwall. Trueflight participated in the fight, and slew several of the vermin with his arrows. When he was discovered, they no longer called him an 'outcast' and he stayed at Redwall.
