I recycle my egg shells, instead of buying oyster shell.
I wash them and leave them out to dry the cover with wax paper and crush. Throw it back out in the pens. My birds all scratch through it and eat it up. It is important to wash them first though.
I use Layena starter for my silkies and Egg pellets for the rest of my flock. The starter is $7.95 and the pellets are $7.25
