Why not go to an actual dictionary where they actually give definitions, rather than a thesaurus. Not all synonyms work in all cases. In your case, coin wouldn't work. You didn't create anything. You ripped something else off. Counterfeiters still create money, it's just not legal. The term "coin a phrase" refers to actually creating it, not borrowing it for your own nefairous schemes.
