Subject: Opinions on Gateway computers

I am thinking of ordering a laptop from Gateway. I just wanted to hear any stories you've heard (both good & bad) about Gateway. Quality, service, support, anything.

Can I borrow?! The last person I spoke to regarding Gateways was the Bank's chief economist and he said "#@&*^%". He mentioned that they use to have excellent service, but the last few times he dealt with them it was frustrating. Apparently, in spite of what you've told them regarding your problem and the various measures taken to correct the situation, they still ask "Did you plug in the computer"! Hope this helps. Oh, and one more thing...can I borrow?

Wow!!!

Maybe I should reconsider... I wonder if the company & quality has changed that much. Most of what I hear is that they "were" really good a couple years ago. I haven't spoken to anyone who's bought one recently.

I would actually prefer a Dell machine but they don't ship to Guam. And even if I had it shipped to a friend or relative in the states then having them send it to me - I still won't be able to get any support from them.

Well, thank God I'm not a hurry to get anything right away. I think I should really shop around - my main focus is quality. I wonder if anyone else has experienced something similar to your friend's situation?

Oh & sure.... You can borrow anytime... Yeah, no problem... For real... Go ahead... It's no biggy.... Are you sure??? Well don't say I never offerred.... hehehe

Gateway's are a PC Tech's dream come true. They are only good if you want a hobby in repairing computers. B-)

I've heard so many comments like that about Gateway....

Anyways, I ended up getting a Dell laptop instead. I've had it a couple months already & I'm happy with it so far. I haven't heard half as many horror stories about Dell as I've heard with Gateway...****crossing my fingers****
