Subject: San Francisco show

Heard the boys on SF's hottest station, Live 105 and got to hear BULLITPROOF on the air after their interview. After standing in line in the cold Bay air (good thing I was wearing my All Blacks cap or the dome woulda been iced over to be sure!), first thing right off after going into the Fillmore was to have a shot and a beer to warm up!

Fingertight, the opening band pretty much sucked. After they're finished, my bass player and I go up front. For once it's just a bunch of young (and short!) females in front of me at a show. Tom walks across the stage toward his drums to get the levels, and I yell in a semi-evil voice, "Tom!" He looks over and seems pleased to hear some recognition.

Great set! Can't remember for sure the order, but they played SEMI-NORMAL (then I yell MY MIND'S SEDATE, and Jon says "we can play that!"), COMFORT ME, BULLITPROOF, that famous teaser of Metallica's MASTER OF PUPPETS (with the obligatory mosh from the boys in the rear), EVERYTHING, THE GENERAL ELECTRIC, and close with MY MIND's SEDATE. End of set, Jon jumps down to say hello, and I tell him, "see ya in the bar".

We all hook up in the upstairs "poster room" bar, in which the ultra-high walls are covered in vintage posters. Hell, everyone has played here from Janis Joplin to Johnny Cash to hell... everyone! We give props to the boys, and I tell them that they should be headlining, cuz the other bands sucked (Tom right off asks me "are you Ed tha Yank?" and we have a good laugh over the fact that he "knew" who I was) and hang out talking about everything from the pollution in the Christchurch air (Karl informs me that it's in a basin like L.A.) to Illicit street wear (Karl looks like they supply him well!) Tom and I harrass the Cutty girls (I call the one in braids Pippy Longstocking). Great show, great guys, great RAWK! My bass player is now a convert! Thanks guys!
