Subject: It is wrong to hate a generally accepted "good" people

So I am standing in Kensington Market the other day, contemplating whether or not I should go into Cheese Magic or get fruits and veggies when I saw IT. The bright red band of the World Youth Day sling pack. Worn across the body of many visiting pilgrims, I see them everywhere...Eaton Centre, Queen Street, North York, Union Station, even the gayest parts of Church Street.

The Catholics have invaded Toronto. Its driving me crazy. Today I missed three streetcars on Spadina because they were full of Catholics. Then on the subway, headed west to Dufferin Station I was serenaded by a group of loud, partriotic Italian pilgrims draped in red, white and green flags, sarongs and bandanas rocking the car.

Upon my return to Chinatown, it dawned on me, this is no longer about Catholocism, its the religious Olympics. Different groups of red sling pack clad pilgrims shouting out their nations glory - Spain, Brazil, Australia, Germany, America - its ludacrous (sp?). And then, I saw a large group, the leader carrying a pole with the bold bars of red, white and blue - I could hear in the back of my head the faint women's voice so often heard at Opening Ceremonies..."Welcome France, (and then in French) France."

I hope our love/hate relationship ends on Monday when most of them ship back to their homelands.
