Forum Formats

VoyForums present version (this page updated February 2, 2006) provides various ways of displaying your forum messages.

Aside from the vast array of configuration options, VoyForums provides:

Formats: Super compact, Compact, Medium, and Verbose
Styles: Either text or table styles can be chosen
Themes: Many collections of settings (colors, backgrounds, CSS settings) are grouped into easy to try "Themes", which you may change at any time.

Super Compact:

Super compact lists the first message of each thread, but no replies are shown in the main index.
Example:

First message of first thread (replies not shown)

First message of second thread

...

First message of last thread in index

Compact:

Compact lists all messages, but without the bodies of the messages
Example:

First message of first thread (replies not shown)

		Reply to Reply 2

Medium:

The Medium Format displays the full message for the first post in a thread, but the replies are listed in a Compact form, without their bodies.
Example:

First message of first thread (replies not shown) Body of message here. This can be very short or quite long, depending on what the author of the message types as the actual message.

		Reply to Reply 2
			Reply to Reply to Reply 2
	Reply 3
First message of second thread Body of message here. Notice only the main message of each thread is shown in full, while the replies are actually listed in Compact format.

First message of last thread in index Body of the first message of the last thread.

Verbose:

In the Verbose format, all messages are displayed in full, one after another.
It appears a bit jumbled in the example below, but with the actual display of Author, Subject, Date, optional divider lines, and further, with the possibility of table-styles, it really can be a quite clear format.
