Hello Lord, Jim, Jesse and Our Gang. I tried to start a new forum but had problems, but this one will be just fine.
I had only recently started digging up GEORGE ROWE and had gotten pretty far, then came to Lord's site only to see that Chicago Jim Jarvis had already published all the same stuff I had found from the same internet resources! Great work, Jim! So I therefore will just supplement all his research on 'The Gink,' still my work-in-progress.
Effie (Smith) Jacobs-Rowe was George's 1st wife and he her 2nd husband. Her previous spouse (Fred Grant Jacobs) died on Oct 17, 1918, a casualty of the Influenza Epidemic. Fred's mother was also a tragic victim, only two weeks earlier. Back on June 10, 1918 Effie gave birth to a premature baby boy who died 16 hours young.
Effie was born March 10, 1898 (or 1899) in Illinois. She had also lost a brother & sister to the flu of 1918. She married George on Feb 21, 1919 in Los Angeles. Effie Rowe died on Feb 15, 1924 due to complications of tuberculosis and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica. She was survived by her husband, George Rowe (Dec 6, 1897 L.A. - Nov 18, 1981 L.A.), and their only child, Arthur Helbach-Rowe. Back to the books. :-)
