I do own a copy of the M of L, and I have read TS's statement inside about Mick Taylor. My point is that Todd is surely saluting the player that Mick Taylor used to be rather than the player he is today. The same surely also goes for Peter Green who IMO was the greatest UK guitarist of all time. If you see PG now, he's just a shadow of his former self. That shouldn't stop someone like TS from saluting him. I do agree with the comment made about the title track from TS's album, which does remind me of a Peter Green solo. You should note though that the solo was played by Todd and not Mick. I don't disagree that TS is probably the best of the new-breed British players, but I still believe that my points about Mick Taylor being shit still stand.
Getting back to the subject, I don't see any serious merit in Mick Taylor's guitar playing nowadays. He used to have it together, but he lost it, soemwhat like Peter Green did. Maybe the years, maybe the heroin, maybe the drink, I don't know..... But something happened along the way, and I now find it laughable that someone like MT thinks that he can play alongside someone like Todd and get away with it. Todd always maintains a consistency and a calibre to his playing that Mick Taylor just doesn't have anymore, and that's that! I'm sure many people have enjoyed some of the shows where Taylor guests, but I'll bet they would have been much better still had Taylor been replaced with a guitarist like Snowy White, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Jimmie Vaughan, Kid Bangham, Kid Ramos, Joe Louis Walker, Otis Grand, (the list could be endless!).....
