In the past I have used Aileene's Stiffener or glue. Put the glue in a small dish and using a sponge brush, apply glue. Let dry overnight. Should stiffen. Remember to block with pins on a wax covered piece of cardboard. Hope this works. I usually use the strongest glue that will dry clear thatI can find. Hope this helps. I have 'starched' many a crocheted snowflake and tree ornament with the glue method.

I'll try glue on one this afternoon. The thread is red as I'm making red hat pins. Hope it dries clear. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the info.
