\\ seeing in the dark //

An uncertain nicker rumbled out to the three horses from the back of the cave. A small flash of light was seen as the glow from the lightning outside reflected off the eyes of an animal. The nicker was repeated, it's tone questioning and wary. The clop of hooves echoed hollowly upon the cave walls, announcing the approach of a fellow equine. A mare emerged from the shadow, her night black pelt hardly recognizable against the darkness. She paused, muscles tense, nares trembling. Orbs stared eerily ahead while pricked auds swiveled wildly, seeking the source of the loud disturbance. She had come to this cave for shelter just before the storm hit. She could only hope that the visitors would not mind her presence.
