Anyway, citpopulations.de has one nagging problem: you can get the population of the city, in which case none of the suburbs are counted (this is very annoying in, say, New York, given that Nassau County, Westchester County, and Jersey City all have substantial populations); get the population of the immediate metro area, which still leaves out some important areas; or get the aggregated metro area, which takes too much (NYC's aggregated metro area is 20 million people, which is slightly lower than the population of Goobergunch's state of New York). It's a pretty good source, but it has this nagging limitation.
