Subject: Greyhounds workouts!!!!!! Author: Mal [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 05:39:40 09/07/02 Sat Christina Erika Sunny Zak and me walked out to the kennels and got out the greyhounds and put all of them in the outdoor pen then installed the heat lamps then we went and got out each greyhound and worked him. Here is what we did with each of them: ~High Light~ I took her to the track inside and put her in the trap then I started the bunny and opened the traps. She chased really well and fast I timed her at 50 seconds for a 2-bend workout. When I caught her and took her back to the barn I put her in the cooling out area where Erika walked each of them out. Then she blanketed her and put her in her kennel. ~Traffic Jam~ I took Jam and I had gotten an idea the other night. When Katie had started to train him she had the bunny on the inside of the track. So I was going to try it on the outside today. I held on to him and Sunny transferred the bunny to the outside of the track. Then I took off his leash and held onto him. When the bunny went by I let him go and to my surprise he chased after the bunny. He ran around the track and kept pouring on the speed. When he came around I caught him and hugged him and praised him and pet him so he felt like he had done something good. Then I cooled him out and put him out in the play area. ~Simply Spiral~ Today I put her in the indoor pool instead of running her. She went into the water willingly and I set the timer for 10 minutes, as that is what she was up to now. I left Christina to watch her and went to make sure Break and Flash was ready for their workouts. I went back in 5 minutes later and saw that she was doing fine. I sat down next to the pool and saw that Christina had had her bathing suit on underneath her clothes and she had jumped into the water with Spiral. When 10 minutes was up Christina and Spiral came out of the water and I passed Christina a fluffy white towel and grabbed another one so I could dry Spiral off. Then once she was dry I put her in the indoor play area with Jam, as they were best friends. ~Flash and Break’s Workout~ I went and got Flash and Zak got Break. Then we headed out to the indoor track. Then we loaded them in the traps and sent the bunny off on its way. Then seconds later we opened the traps and the dogs shot out of them. Break was in the lead with Flash about 5 lengths off the pace. It stayed that way throughout the whole race. The race ended with Flash 5 lengths off the pace. Break had won. Then we caught them and put left them with Erika to cool them out. ~Silver Stream~ Christina led her to the pool and let her go then jumped in after she had let her go. She swam with Stream to keep the dog going. Then the timer rang and they got out and put Silver’s leash on her and dried Silver and herself off. Then she put Silver away and dried off some more. ~Mr.Spunky, Torrent, Syncope and Pacific Surf~ Christina, Zak, Sunny and me got out Spunk, Tor, Cope and Surf and walked them for 1 hour before putting them away and going to do some agility with the show dogs. ~Desert Sheik, Sand Storm and Cast Away~ We just took them out and let them run around in the agility ring.
