BOGMAN…FINAL ENTRY.
Hello Robert,
We always called you Robert in the Dorm 1966/67. You were a boarder for one year in the term `66/67. Memories…freezing mornings, rising circa 7.AM, washing, shaving!!, then off to Mass, (strict Catholic school), followed by breakfast. Not too bad…..cornflakes, mouldy sausages/rashers, bread. Then, class all day with study in the evening. You were always first in the study hall…I recall you would burst into the hall in a mock display of zeal, then you would groan and collapse on your desk! Our prefect in the dorm was a student priest with black hair and horn rimmed glasses. We called him Manfred! He nabbed you one night when a student cracked a bar of chocolate after lights out. You whispered in a loud voice, `Give us a bit!!` Manfred took no prisoners! You led the Pink Belly attacks…Unsuspecting students were pounced on by the rest of the Dorm, pulled to the ground and slapped on the stomach region. It didn`t hurt but one`s pride was dented…for about 5 seconds. You were `done` more than anyone else!!! Crazy stuff! A strange sort of bonding!! Nobody was left out. I am proud to say that you Pink Bellied me!! Yourself and Quentin Hogan were great fans of the Who. Pictures of Lily!!! You also admired the Stones…indeed you looked like Jagger in those days. The two of you would repeat the `Oh, my, my, my ` piece in `Let`s Spend the Night Together`!! Great moments..the first time we heard `Strawberry Fields Forever`, and `Good Vibrations` circa `66/67. You praised the Beatles for their changes in appearance and approach. I still recall that argument you had with a few others in the Dorm about the underprivileged in the Third World. You passionately defended the rights of the less well off!! Well done! You were ahead of the rest. Was surprised to read of your insecurity in those adolescent times. You seemed so confident and assured…We westerners felt like 3d class citizens, behind the Dubs, midlanders and foreigners. Just shows…underneath it all, we were all alike…Young, nervous, fearful and self conscious!!!! Typical adolescents. A privilege to have known you.
THE END. BOGMAN

That was a lovely post. It looks like Bogman won't be back so we can't thank him, but I hope someone can get it the message to Bob, it was really special...
