Isn't Ignorance a wonderful thing!

For a person to have made such an uninformed statement I am guessing that you have either never played golf or you have and you really suck!

A round of golf can be extremely physically demanding, especially when you play 18 holes a day for 4 straight days against the best players in the world, on the planets most challenging courses, regardless of the weather conditions. I'm not going to even mention all of the practice time.

Golf on the tour is also very mentally demanding. It's not like most professional sports where you sign a contract at the beginning of the year and even if you suck you still get paid. Golf is purely pay for performance... if you suck you don't get paid. There is no coasting through a game and letting your teamates do the work for the day.

I realize that some of the other athletes definitely deserve some recognition (mainly Joe Sakic captain of the NHL Champs or Larry Walker NL batting champ) but MIKE WEIR competes on the world stage, not just within his small league but against the entire planet. May I also mention that he is the 2001 Players Champion....
Many Canadians win the Stanley Cup, some make the World Series but very few have ever conquered the PGA tour.

Who do you brother(s) feel should be given this accolade if not MW ?
