It works!!!
Ok, so it took a helluva lot of tweaking to figure it out, but I've got the Microsoft DivX MPEG-4 compression to work.
Since I'm guessing none of you have any clue as to what I'm talking about, DivX is a new video compression format that Microsoft developed that has pretty much the same quality as normal MPEGs, but is a lot smaller. Using it, I've managed to compress normal MPEGs to almost 1/4th of their original size with hardly any loss to video quality. This means that I can now rip DVDs and put them on a single CD and still have good quality. For any of you who have ever ripped DVDs or watched ripped DVDs, they are only good to watch if they are in MPEG (a normal movie in MPEG will fill up almost 2 CDs). You can put movies in ASF format and fit them onto a CD, but ASF has piss poor quality, and I personally can't make myself watch them even if I can get them for free.
Anyway, it all boils down into a very happy me. Now I can get all kinds of movies for free without having to worry about having them on multiple CDs or having them bog down hard drive space.

P.S. I'm currently making documenation for some friends on how to rip DVDs and put them in MPEG-4, so if any of you are interested let me know.

Disclaimer: Ripping your personal DVDs and backing them up on a CD is perfectly legal. That, of course, is all I intend to use my documentation for. When I said that I could get a bunch of movies for free, not that I said "could" and not "would." Um... yea... =P
