My policy argument really stems from something greater than just our agency and it has to do with the cost, affordabilty and quality of child care. I chose this because inherently it does impact our agency in a big way in that it affects how much we are able to pay our teachers, the quality of a program we can provide to our children and the affordability of the provision of quality care for our parents. If we follow our mission, one would think that we would not be able to provide quality care. I intend to outline three different policy changes that could make a difference not only in our agency, but also in the field of early education across the board. I particularly would like to talk about government funding of early education, but in all parameters this is not likely going to happen until those in government believe in the necessity of early education. So, I will talk about internal changes and what can be done on a local level and at the agency level to present options for early education programs such as ours. These would include but not be limited to plans for teachers salary increases through local funding, private funding and developing consortiums of other programs, providing different benefits for staff that include days off, education, (which there is funding for), and other advantages that are creative and yet provide an environment that would retain staff.
