I agree Kiesha, I made my answer broad thinking I couldn't type more than 102 letters. I think it is important for others to learn about other cultures, and language has a lot to do with one's culture. You can see this with different dialects within the US. I think there is statistics that says the people in the United States is the least likely to be bilingual/multilingual compared to other countries. English in some cases is automatically a second language that is taught so a lot of other countries are automatically bilingual. What does this say about our country?
