Subject: German elections

Hi everyone,

First of all I hope everyone is doing fine and getting on with everyday life wherever they are. I've just been lazy the past couple of days.
Chloe, tonight I watched the first TV-debate that was shown between Schroeder and Stoiber. Both had their speeches well prepared it seemed, all went very civilized. Stoiber tried to attack Schroeder on some points who always replied in his calm and detached manner. Journalists said that Stoiber might have won some points tonight, which I couldn't really see, there wa a lot of blabla...disagreements were on the question whether to involve in a possible war with Iraq and about immigration...and of course unemployment, the hot issue in Germany.
Well, as you said we will see what happens on the 22nd, a grand coalition I view unlikely, Stoiber said he would never enter one. It will either be CDU/CSU and FDP or SPD and Greens, both don't see the PDS as a serious partner...which Schroeder may need to gain the majority. So I kind of feel it will be the Union that will win.

With these words,
good night,

Marc
