I grew up in a family where gender roles were reversed. My mother was the bread winner in the family, and had the higher educational level. My mother was a was school teacher and my father is works on copiers and fax machines (so in that respect gender roles were in tact). But because of the reversal of gender roles I am comfortable with my mate making more money than I do, and have a deeper understanding of what it means to have freedom in gender roles.

Another model that I took from my parents is my willingness to never give up on my dreams and always see the best possibilities in people and situations. This is something my parents have always preached to me, and have viewed as important in their own lives.

One final point on this question, I have departed from my family in my choice of profession (Pastor) while church was always importnat for our family, it was never really something we considered as a profession.
