Your suspicions of it being a human type attack are fairly accurate. It it had been coyote or mountain lion there would not be much left with the exception of some fur. If even that. My heart goes out to the family of this kitty. I have been alerted to some teenagers wondering around at late night hours dressed all in black thanks to the barking of my dog. However even during the day people have reported pets are taken from their front yards in other rural Riverside County areas. It might be a good idea to keep your pets in the house just to be safe and hope this type of incident doesnt happen again.
