When they dont give us answers, they lie. I contacted HOA's in the area and all of them have year round heated pools. Also I calculated an approximate revenue from advertisement in The Gazette and if it truly costs $12,000 a year to publish it (theres no postage just simple copying and stapling) it still would profit approx. $4,000.00 a year. Payroll expense shows our maintenace employees earn approx. $17.00 an hour for the 9 employees. Office staff (with 2 people) earn a little over $20.00 an hour. Quite a bit for a non-profit. Employees at Animal Friends of the Valley (i.e. animal control officers) dont even earn that much. They are also a non-profit organization. I also went found that 85% of deliquent assessments that were taken to small claims were dismissed by court per FPOA's request. One single case heard in court costs the association approx. $100.00. Also wondering if the insurance company was notified as to the vandalism that just recently occured. Were the police contacted for the break in to shed and incident at the pond. We are covered for vandalism and the fact that an alarm going off went without being checked out leaves me little confidence in Crime Watch. Does the board realize that if anyone is attacked in their home during hours Crime Watch patrols, Crime Watch and FPOA can be held liable for that? And finally, I was very angry at the Board for ignoring one residents request to hold off on the decision to vote whether or not to heat the pool. I would prefer heated pools to a monthly newsletter. Ads, etc could be posted on bulletin boards or kept at Farm Barn. These are things I have found out on my own. I agree, if we can budget and cut back on our own household expenses there is no reason for the board to cut back or eliminate items that are reasons we pay dues and moved here. We can petition the board to NOT turn off heat at the pools. In fact we can protest the raise in assessments by not paying additional costs and advising them of such in a letter.

Maggie, don't expect answers. Yes the BOD are suppose
>to answer to us but do they? The few employees left
>should remember that they too answer to us, as WE pay
>their wages. Every BOD, since I have been here,
>apparently has endless money and can afford to have
>these increases each year. Many of us cannot. That's
>why you see so many For Sale signs around. Seniors
>who are on fixed income, and those of us who are
>disabled, cannot afford this sort of dues. When can
>we get a BOD who knows how to conserve? If I can use
>20% less power than last year, and 35% less than the
>year before, why can't the BOD?
