  Tiffany Barnhart wins Grand Champion at the Fair! -- Cindy Love, Mom, 21:27:57 10/13/08 Mon
  Tiffany was so excited and shocked as her prized Netherland Dwarf "Sweetie" won Grand Champion in the Rapides Parish Fair Rabbit Show this weekend. There were hundreds of rabbits!
  
  She almost passed out. She totally couldn't breathe.
  
  For those of you that know Tiffany or remember her from the Texas State Staff this past year, just imagine prim and proper beauty queen Tiffany wearing jeans, boots and a dinner plate grand champ belt buckle. YEAP! I said a belt buckle. She won it for being Grand Champ at the Fair! It is hilarious!

  • Joanie, This is such a wonderful thing to do. We ended up losing the house and whatever was in it. Fortunantly, we were better prepared than we were with Rita so we got all the important, essential things out. I was not thinking though (since it was hot while we were doing this) and when Destiny was ready for school this morning, I didn't have a jacket for her. She went to school with my mom's jacket. LOL She won't suffer long though, I am going to buy her another one today. Anyway, thank you so much for everything. We will bring our donations this weekend to the pageant! Bridge City lost everything.   Well it looks like Southeast Texas was spared by Hurricane Gustav. We are back home from the evacuation and things are about back to normal. I just wanted to thank the Kavanaugh's for opening their home to us during the evacuation and for everyone who called during the evacuation and after returning home to make sure everything was fine. -- Thanks again, The Smart's, 17:08:57 09/03/08 Wed
  Joe and I were discussing how great it is having such an extended family. No matter where we go in Texas, we know we have friends that are truly there for us. For those of you who haven't experienced this first hand yet, just stay around and sooner or later you will. Who else has experienced similar situations like we have?   • During Hurricane Rita....Sharon Parnell planned a Cinderella outing for my children at Ghattitown and then we stayed a couple of days with her daughter Layni.         • Thanks Julie, Ricky, & Emmy. It is getting pretty crazy & scary around here. They have began calling for voluntary evacuations of low lying areas in SE TX. Continue to pray that Ike will increase it's speed some, because if it doesn't it isn't looking too good for us. This is a very large storm & it looks like pretty much the entire TX coastline will be affected by this storm. We have not evacuated yet, but we are making plans.   • Hey Everyone - just an update from Houston and the Gulf Coast....several coastal areas in South Houston are under mandatory evacuation beginning at noon today. They have asked the rest of Houston to "hunker down" and ride out the storm. Mr. Bob just had surgery, so we can't go very far and due to me being on the emergency team at the hotel - I will be staying there taking care of our guests.   • Well we are fine in College Station. Still pretty windy and raining. I spoke to Helenea a little bit ago and she is fine, a little shook up, but fine. She says it is her last hurricane. We are without power, but my dad ran an extension cord from his motorhome to my house so we can run our TV, fan and fridge! Hopefully we wont be out for long.   • Thanks, Steph! We did lose basically everything but we got out with what was most important, our children. The house was pretty bad. We had about 3 &1/2 ft of water in the house and we spent the last 2 days pulling furniture, carpet, and sheetrock out the house. And, like any normal 9 year old Maddies room was a mess when we left so it was a wet mess when we came home. I guess it was the Lords way of telling us we needed a new begining.   • Hey everyone! Well we are back home and doing well. Minor damage at home, but our assisted living home still is without electricity and it suffered some damage. Therefore, our patient's are actually living with us right now....crazy! The kids are still out of school because of damage there and still no electricity. I am seeking advice for those who have entered boys in pageants. I have a 19 month old and a almost 3 year old boy and our first pageant is tomorrow. I am worried to see how they are going to act on stage in front of people. I am only wanting to attend natural pageants. Thanks for the help.
