The natural healing book " Back to Eden " by Jethro Kloss
Has a herbal recipe for a poultice that is very affective .
I used it on a kitten that was bit by a german shepard and developed an abcess on it's belly .

The abcess came to a head the morning after the treatment from the night before .

Since I don't have the book and it was back in 1978 when I tried this treatment , I only remember one ingredient , slippery elm bark , I belive there are two other herbs used to make it afective .

I have a poodle that has an abcess on her hind leg about an inch below and to the left of her tail. I cut the hair from around it and drained it. It was bad and left a deep hole. I put some neosporin on it and she is resting now.
I read about the zinc and about the sugar - should I use either of these? I will drain it again tomorrow and put compresses on it but I would appreciate any advice on what to do. I enjoyed reading all the other comments.
