I recently took my dog to a vet for a simple abcess drainage procedure. My dog was under anesthesia for 15 minutes during the operation. He was sent home with a cone to prevent the dog from licking the wound, but was not given a pain medication. My dog started panting heavily the moment he got home. It went on until the next day and I had to take him back to the vet to get reexamined. The vet took an x-ray and found fluin in his lungs. They tried to remove the fluid and was to be observed overnight at the emergency hospital. My dog did not make it on the way to the hospital. My dog died in my car, he tried to hang on so hard but I am glad he died as he was with me and not alone.

You are lucky that your pet is still alive. Had I research the cure for abcess through natural herbs or over the counter drugs, my beloved pet will still be alive today. Currently, he is in the morgue waiting to be cramated. I am so heartbroken as he was my baby for 8 years. My advise to you and to everyone is follow your gut instict. I did not follow mine. I trusted my vet's advise to have my dog get the surgery to drain the abcess, although my instict told me otherwise.
