No mother-in-law for me, but I get along great with my bf's mother. Of course, I live in the USA and she lives on the Isle of Man. Actually, she spent a week here last year and everything was fine.

I do have a sister-in-law that almost drove me out of my own house! A year ago, when my mom in critical condition, my brother and sister-in-law came from California. They were supposed to be here for 2 weeks, but my brother sent her home after one. It was either her or me leaving.

She refused to eat from my dishes or cook in my pots. Wouldn't use my sheets, blankets, towels, etc. She either brought everything with her or bought it new here. When I would cook a meal that my brother requested , she would cook something else, and make him choose which to eat!!!! The last straw was when I came home from work and the hospital to find the furniture rearranged!

My friend has the same problems when her mother-in-law visits from China. My sister-in-law is from the Philippines and just became a US citizen. We have decided that it has to be a cultural thing with them, but it sure drives us crazy!
