Well, keeping with the posting traditions, I'm going to tell ya'll a bit about myself now, too...ready or not here it comes!!!
I was born with severe Asthma and spent a lot of time growing up in and out of hospitals, that's where I get my deep sense of community involovement. I remember all those that helped me and I want to give back. I didn't begin pageants until I was 18, I had always been very self-conscious, but I figured what he heck. I LOVE THEM NOW!!! I have done both live and internet pageants, and my "biggest" title was Miss PA American COed 1999. As you can all tell from my letters, I am married, 8 months now. I am a Senior at Slippery Rock University where I am working towards my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with specialized honors minors in East Asian Studies, History, and International Relations. Nice combo, huh?
I enjoy just about anything you can think of, fishing and camping are real high on my list, I love being out in mother nature...and as I said, I have a passion for cars (and Dale Earnhardt JR). As you all know from my earlier writings, the first few months of my married life sucked...chicken pox, pneumonia, and a car accident. So Mandy, now I REALLY know what you're going through (by the way my mom wishes you her best and is still praying for you)
We lost our breaks on the highway and ended up plowing into a tree at 65 miles an hour. I broke both legs in 8 different places, shattering my ankle, cracked my skull, severed the main artery in my temple, and had my scalp sheared off to the skull about 6 inches...but I'm doing much better now!!!
I work alot with victim advocate organizations, especially those concentrating on vicitims of violent crimes. My husband (he's only 2 years older than me) married his high school sweetheart a year after they graduated, and while he was out to sea (he was in the Navy at the time) she was brutally murdered by 8 men. So that life experience has shaped a great deal for us both. He absolutely amazes me...he is one of those poeple that you KNOW God put on this earth to show just how resilient the human spirit is.
I more than understand about the panic attacks, and it is very unfortunate your mom isn't as supportive as you need her to be. I myself am Manic Depressive, so I can relate to what you are going through...I have found that you really DO have to take one day at a time and concentrate on what is going to help you feel better, not everyone else.
Do ya'll know enough yet? Have I scared you away? I sure hope not. I figured I'd tell you all these not so nice things because they are a big reason why I am the opposite...Life is too short to dwell on the past and the what ifs, when you get lemons, make lemonade!!!!
Well, I will spend the next few hours as will everyone else patiently waiting for the big results!!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!! THis has been fun, and I can't wait to do it all again next year!
Love and Smiles!!!!
Amy
