Brad, your proposal sounds great - but do you think there will be allegations that different coaches who are linked with either: cairns mulgrave
cairns city
cairns kuiyam
will choose players from their sector - so to speak. I think we need to look at all the possible troubles and beat them before they arise. For example a solution to the above trouble would be have a member of the coaching staff from each sector involved in the selection process.
My concern is that we change everything, have parents and children unhappy with how things are being done and they leave the sport. Then everyone suffers.
And if things didn't work, then if we were to change back would BQ take anything the three sectors tried to do in the future as being series? I doubt it.
It would be great if we can get something going after Easter, maybe having all these classics at once will enable us (cairns, mulgrave & kuiyam) to come together May/June and after most travelling requirements have ceased and sit down and work out what is best for the sport and the kids in The Cairns Area.
Gil, you get my vote also - and I think Brad's suggestion of three teams (1 in each div) would be great, because opportunities would still be there for the kids to experience.
For anyone who has doubts that we can work together, ask anyone who was involved in this years u18 clasics -JOINTLY HELD BY CAIRNS AND MULGRAVE. From everyone I spoke to there was no - us & them, we were all together. Surely this could be done for years to come - ALL TOGETHER
Cheers.
