Subject: MLB needs a new structure

Maybe MLB needs to go under and in time we the fans will get a more fan friendly league. This is the structure that I suggest:

A 1st year 1st baseman will get a certain amount, a 2nd year first baseman a little more and so on. Do that for each position. YOu know, a salary guide. They could do it now and save everything for all of us, but the overpaid ones won't let it happen.

What they could do is this: Take whatever they are making now and the owners would still pay out the same amount next year, maybe with a small increase for inflation. With the salary guide in place noone is paid less than $400,000 and noone is paid a million. If the team reaches the playoffs, coaches, players, everyone gets $5 million from the league office and the owner gets maybe $10 million extra(that could be up for discussion to put an incentive on winning for the owner too) If the team reaches the LCS they get maybe $10 million. If it reaches the World Series they all get $20 million and if they win they all get $35 million. The same amount of money is to be paid out but they can plan better since they know what their expenditures will be next year too. The emphasis goes back to winning, no more agents urging players to sit out games because there is no need for agents, and the players will rarely change teams. They will be connected to the city and the city to them. The fans will love it. They will still be filthy rich and the owners will make a bundle. Everyone wins, but for this to happen maybe a few have to make some sacrifices. If they really meant all that stuff they said after Sept. 11th, they'll be willing to do it. If not then they deserve what I fear is going to happen. No more major league baseball.

I'll still be able to show baseball to my kids thru independant leagues, but it would be so much nicer if the big boys could give a little.
