Watched your Datuk Lee Chong Wei play in the Qtr Finals of the Australian Open this evening. He made mincemeat of his Chinese opponent Bin Qiao. China did not send their 1st ranked players, but Indo, Vietnam, India, Thailand all did.

Unfortunately the 1st seeded Mens Doubles of Malaysians K.K Koo & B.H Tan lost to an Indonesian pair and so did the top ranked Malaysian Womens Doubles.
The Doubles Teams appeared underdone and seemed to lack spirit or confidence.
Maybe it was due to some of the spectators yelling out "Malaysia Boleh" when they weere behind on points?

The Datuk got a rock star reception and send off and this is the first time that I had ever seen a badminton player being accorded a team of 'crowd control' personnel (otherwise known as bodyguards).

As from next year, Australia joins the Badminton 'Super Series' tournaments, so we may finally get to see more big names in the sport visiting.

Anyhow, it was an experience to watch Lee C. W play as he is so cool and relaxed and he is damn good.
He should win this Open - pity about the Doubles players who were once so dominant on the World stage.
