No, Egypt did not get what they wished for; it was another "strong man" replacing existing one. The mindset on the ground has not changed; a little similiar here.
The last party of your last statement is most wise. Fair, or not fair, the message from Malaysians, esp. the minorities, are clear. No change, capital out flight will continue, and economy will get worse.
It is difficult to change system, without changing mindset on ground level.
