I hope Harold (Bob) Davies can read this. Reference http://www.voy.com/106064/145.html?z=1 . The following message was my response to Bob.

I have the same photo which was taken of the officers' 'swimming pool' taken in front of the hootch as is displayed in black and white on the web. ("Agent Orange in Thailand?") I took a similar photo, however with pilots actually sitting in the yellow floating device that pilots who ejected over water would climb into. (I have been diagnosed by the VA most recently as having 'Early Stage Alzheimers Disease', so forgive me for not being able to think of the correct word. This is in addition to what was mentioned in my message to Bob. Add 'rash' to the list. Someone from DAV asked me recently if I've had a rash and I said 'no'. While I was driving home, I gave second thought to it and realized I have had rashes periodically where I itched like crazy and scratching it would only made it worse. This would occur on the underside of my arms from hands to elbow; also on the inside of my legs, from knee upwards. I didn't give it a second thought as possibly being a symptom of toxic exposure. But it is true, I've had rashes, pink prickly areas of the skin at different times for quite some time. (I'm drifting away from what I wanted to say.)

I have a colored slide of the same 'officers swimming pool' and the dark area you see on the web next to whatever they're sitting in, is orange. Why just in that area? How strange. Orange dirt next to the officers pool, then I realized what would happen when the pool was emptied. It would wash the top soil away and expose what was underneath, soil contaminated with Agent Orange.

Bob mentioned dirt being brought in after Camp Nasty was cleared for hootch construction. All I remember was that there was jungle growth when I arrived and within two weeks or so, there was Camp Nasty with hootches, shower, chow hall, etc. It seemed like someone had taken a vaccuum cleaner and sucked up all the jungle growth in what appeared to be a perfectly squared or rectangular area. All dirt, no vegitation within Camp Nasty. No piles of earth within the vicinity which would indicate the useage of heavy equipment to clear the area.

Tonight I thought about the orange spot next to the swimming pool and it suddenly struck me that what happened in all probability was that the pool was emptied and the water washed away the dirt that was hauled in. That explains the organge dirt in my photo. What else could that be? The water pressure from the water being poured out simply washed the top soil away to expose the soil beneath which was sprayed with Agent Orange.

I also have aerial photos of both Camp Friendship (Army storage depot) and Camp Nasty (Air Force) taken at that time. Several were taken from a helicopter with a red ball shaped fire extinguisher which hung under the aircraft as it followed the 105s down the runway as they were taking off. Great shots.

The ones of Camp Friendship were also taken showing the storage area in great detail. There's a section which appears to have several drums of who-knows-what in storage. I will get the slides put on a cd and will zoom in on those areas.

I have all my military records to prove that I was assigned to Korat Air Base at that time. I'd like to hear from anyone who was also stationed at Korat at the same time I was and who have health issues similar to the ones I presently have or had (prostate cancer in 2002). I can be emailed at ns4109hwy1@yahoo.com. --Jerry

My husband was stationed there in the USAF in 1964 and 1965. He has color pictures of the barrels which had had to hold while his commander used a tractor with a cone head on the front of it to take off the tops of the barrels. He held the barrels up against a tree and the Herbicide inside spilled on him and the ground. He then had to fill them with dirt after he dug a trench to stick them in. After the barrels they had to stack sand bags on top to protect the radar unit. He also has other pictures of Camp Nasty. Please send pictures or anything else you might have to us..WOULD APPRECIATE anything you'll might have, also.My husband NAME is FELIX and he was in the RADAR UNIT. hIS COMMANDER was Mster Sargeant Wilbur Pace.

Thanks for the reply
one min limit so write me back
Was at Korat 4/65 for 1 year. It was bare and yes without ground clearing signs. And yes we WERE THERE in spite of what our Uncle Sam may say. Read a story the other day of a prisoner pilot who refused to say what base he came from and instead said he came from DaNang. I have read a lot about the torture they went thru (Col. Risener being one of them) but for the first time realized what it meant for ME. I walked the base perimeter as a target but because of men like them I got out alive. It wasn't till about the time I left Hanoi Hanna started to mention us on the radio. To those guys I say THANKS and so does my family. Now anything I can do to dig up info about the base and Agent Orange I will do just contact me. While I still have one I will go into my memory and pictures to find what I can. don't anyone give up hope.

I was at Korat 65/66 and have prostrate cancer. I have learned that AO was shipped/stored in barrels with orange bands on them. Other agents were marked with blue, green, and other colors. If you find any photos with barrels in them look for the bands. It seems to me that we were using open barrels on the ball field that was next to the Nit Noy Theater. Jerry were you there the night we were in the theater and the fogging /spraying unit drove around spraying into the theater? I beleive they were spraying for bugs but didn't the military use DDT at that time? Please send me a reply at my e-mail address of gerryyoung43@yahoo.com >I hope Harold (Bob) Davies can read this. >My brother, Jim Simpson, was a heavy equipment operator who was stationed at Utapao, Korat, and NKP during the years May '66 to January 4, 1969. He used heavy equipment to extend the runways for the airbases. We are trying to find out the exact dates he was in each place. He also drove heavy trucks to various places, passing through and staying at Udorn. He has just been diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease which includes Early Onset Alzheimers and Parkinsonian symptoms so your "Early Stage Alzheimers" caught my eye. He can no longer remember whether he was in Thailand for two tours or one. He is only 65 which is young for Alzheimers. Do you know of others who have this diagnosis? He also has Type II diabetes.

Hi,
I had sqamous cell carcenoma back on 2004. Stage 3. I now have a tumor in my intestines and am due to go for tests at Memorial Slaon in NYC.

I want to know who else was in my position ? I was at Korat for 12 months during 1970 and 1971. I was with the 42nd TEWS.

Can you please give me any info on what the procedure is for submitting a claim or , if I do, how are they being processed?

I know there was AO at Korat and that they perimeter was sprayed on a regular basis. I just don't know where to start.
