I was with the float and remember some of the guys from 81 mortors. Remember the time we came back to the ship after a long time in the field to find every Christmas present opened and stolen by some sailors. One of the guys from Mortors said, "come on, I am eating before the sailors today." About a half dozen of us followed him down the ladder to the mess hall. A sailor there blocked the way saying, "sailors eat first." The dude from mortors took out his KBar and put it to the sailor's throat. I thought he was going to draw blood. The sailor backed off and we all went on into the mess hall and demanded food. We got it. What a glory moment. Just wonder if you know who that guy from mortors was. Like to thank him for a good time. Steve Skinner, CPL Comm plt, radio relay team.
