Yeah, black widows and brown recluses are all over the south. Tarantulas will be a new thing, though. I read up more on vinagaroons, and it said that their only means of defense was their vinegar smell. At first glance, that seemed really stupid to me, but I guess there's no defense better than tasting like shit.

Because I'm a masochist, I went looking for information on the deadly species of scorpions. There's actually incredibly detailed info about the more exotic species, including the deadly ones, at www.centralpets.com. Because only an idiot would keep a deadly scorpion as a pet, each thorough description comes with a specific explanation of why you would have to be an idiot to try to keep one of these scorpions as a pet. Pretty funny stuff, especially the discussion of why people keep deathstalker scorpions.

Cool. I think they're becoming resistant to the stuff I'm using. It still kills them, when I find a group and spray them, but they seem less afraid of it than they were. Or maybe it's just the fact that the weather has turned warm. In any case, there's more of them now.

I found a bunch of the little tiny ones on my shower wall. There were three groups of five. The five in each group were turned to face each other, antenna to antenna, like little roach stars. I can only assume they were communist cells.
