Subject: Bedroom haunting?

I wonder if anybody can shed a little light on this for us?
Over the past few months, my mum has been frequently spooked by a sensation of something sitting on the end of her bed.
It has happened in the day and the night, and is becoming more frequent.
Yesterday afternoon, she actually saw the bed depress in one place as though something was moving on it.
There have also been occasional noises in the house that we haven't been able to explain, culminating in my dad jumping out of a chair in fright yesterday thinking something heavy had crashed to the floor, but a search of the house (including chimneys) revealed nothing amiss.
It definately feels that the activity is increasing. Could it be centered around my mum? The previous weekend, she, my brother and I all saw a glass move across the table in front of us. None of us have ever seen anything like that before.
