If you are looking to buy one from a main dealer then ask them straight. How much oil will it use? if they say 1 litre per 800/1000 miles but it will improve after 30000 miles then I would walk away. If they say the consumption will be better than that then get it in writing. The problem is without doing a few hundred miles in it you will not know whether it is using oil. One thing you can be sure of if you get a Zafira using a lot of Oil Vauxhall are very very unlikely to fix it! As for the petrol engines I have not heard of any Oil Consumption problems at all. The main concern with the petrol engine is it uses considerably more fuel, if you plan to cover high milage it needs to be considered carefully. Ask as many Vauxhall dealers as you can how much oil a diesel Zafira is likely to use and I think you will get some conflicting answers. This in its self is suspicious. E-mail me your results and I will post them.
