Subject: Talk Board Issues...

Okay, I've had some requests to moderate the forum in a way that prevents people from just saying off the wall things. So I've made a change.

FROM NOW ON 9/9/02.... When you make a post it will not appear immediately. It will have to be "approved" by the administrator. In no way will I simply delete a message. If I have to edit it down due to content, then I'll do that. But I cannot in good conscience delete posts simply because they're anonymous. You may disagree, but that's just the way I feel.

The anonymous nature of the internet is what allows people to speak freely. For example...if someone was required to put their name down prior to criticizing a Chief, Captain, or Lieutenant, that would more then likely keep them from making the post. It may be the most valid criticism ever made, but who in the hell wants to criticize an officer that may be directing a fire scene that he will be working at the next day?

If that means the officers are pissed off at me because I'm allowing anonymous posts, then so be it. I'll take the hit. In the interest of a better Union, I think it keeps people honest to be able to express there concerns without fear of reprisals.
